The First Congregational Church has been a part of this community from the very beginning.

Established in 1848, we’ve been a steady presence in the same location, right off Michigan Avenue in the heart of the city center.

Our purpose and mission remain constant: to have Open Minds, Open Hearts, Open Arms, and Open Doors, sharing God’s love with each soul we encounter. We’re a safe place, where everyone is welcome and everyone has value. We believe that each individual is on a personal journey of faith discovery and that we all possess intellectual freedom as we develop a relationship with God.
